I just sent the order off to my manufacturer. 600 pairs of plain, no-print, no-fuss knickers is in production right now, headed here (hopefully) in the next month or so.
Here's why I did it, and why I made a very deliberate call on pricing.
I know what it's like to stand at the counter checking your bank account to see if you can afford it. I've done that more times than I'd like to admit. So when I sat down to plan this range, the brief (ha ha!) I gave myself was simple: keep them at a price that cuts out a decision.
When I ran a poll on undies a while back, "plain" came up again and again. Not everyone wants a limited-edition print by an Australian artist on their undies every day, fair enough, I'm not offended. Sometimes you just want a good pair of knickers that do their job and reduce panty-liner waste and discharge notifications.
So that's what these are. No print-run costs baked into the price, no front pocket, no bows. I've even been given very good advice to freight them 10% by air (exy!) and 90% by sea (cheaper but still eek). Just the same gusset patterned to deal with staining, the same merino lining to handle scent, the same organic cotton, same non-toxic dyes, because none of that was ever up for negotiation. I'm not making these cheaper by making them worse. They're cheaper because plain fabric with no print costs less to produce, and I'm passing that straight through to you.
